The
picturesque village of Orba nestles on the valley floor in the heart of the
orange-growing region of the Costa Blanca. Surrounded
on all sides by orange, lemon, olive and almond trees, it offers a haven of
peace and tranquillity.
Access
Yet
Orba is less than 20 minutes inland by car from the busy coastal town of Denia
at the northern tip of the Costa Blanca. It’s
only a few minutes’ drive on the RN332 to Ondara and the AP7 motorway junction,
giving easy access to all parts of the region. The
vibrant cities of Alicante and Valencia are about an hour away by motorway, and
Benidorm, with its superb beaches and nearby water park (Aqualandia) and
stunning theme parks (Terra Mítica and Terra Natura), is even nearer.
So it really is possible to have the best of all worlds - an unspoilt
village within easy reach of beautiful sandy beaches, scenic countryside,
coastal towns and bustling cities.
Amenities
and Activities
The
village has all the amenities for modern-day living: supermarkets, off-licence,
butcher’s, baker’s, fishmonger’s, newsagent’s, banks, post office,
pharmacy and doctor’s surgery. The
Catholic church is in the main square. There
are plenty of places to eat and drink well and the restaurants and bars offer a
wide variety of excellent food and entertainment at extremely reasonable prices.
There is a Saint’s Day fiesta around the second weekend in May and a
week-long summer fiesta starting on the last weekend in July.
The CB Freebie (a free newspaper), available e.g.
from the Charter supermarket, will give you details of local activities and
events, or you can buy The Costa Blanca News or The Euro Weekly News.
The villagers themselves are friendly, helpful and very welcoming.
You can visit the Orba website, see where Orba is on the map and have a look at the local weather and 5-day forecast.
Ambience
While
the character of the old village remains essentially unchanged, the surrounding
areas are now being developed with careful planning, the residence of Orbeta
being one such development. As this is a
conservation area, each of the villa sites has been chosen to blend in with the
existing architecture and landscape. Particular attention has been paid to the
positioning of each site to offer magnificent panoramic views over the citrus
groves and surrounding pine-clad hills (artists take note!).
